funds collected from people sympathetic to the causes. Many terrorists in Western Europe and the
Middle East have been trained in the Soviet Union, North Korea, Algeria, Libya, and South Yemen.
Japanese and Western European terrorists have received training in Lebanon, Viet Nam and South
Yemen. In the Middle East, popular support for terrorism does exist. Large terrorist groups move in
freedom and often conduct open meetings. These groups are very formidable due in part to the
money, training, and arms support received from host countries such as Iran, Syria, and Libya.
